The NEMCRC can help
The licence application form indicates what sort of licence you require and which types of machines you are eligible for depending on age and experience It may be a novice or intermediate novice licence, All licence applications require a self medical assessment and an eye sight test. They will cost £27 and are renewable every January. Any official of the NEMCRC will assist in the completion of the application and offer advice and guidance to new members.
- Collect an application form from a club official or from the ACU direct Complete the application. Our club secretary will help you.
- The form includes a certificate for your optician to endorse and confirm that your eyesight is up to standard. A certificate is included on the application form.
- Make a self-declaration about your health, unless you have a medical condition that could affect your racing you needn’t involve a doctor or incur costs.
- A NEMCRC official must counter sign your application. This is to confirm you are a member of an affiliated club
- Return the completed application to the ACU with your fee – you will receive your licence within a few days. Always ask for the ACU handbook to be sent with your licence. You need it as it contains all the rules and regulations for motorcycle sport and on any subsequent race entry form you will sign a declaration to the fact that you have read and agree to be bound by them.
- You will receive a Novice Clubman’s Licence if you don’t hold a full road bike licence or an Intermediate Novice Clubmen’s Licence if you do hold a full road bike licence.
- Your age, type of competition licence will decide the class and size of bike you can race – check what restrictions currently apply.
- As a novice racer you will wear an orange jacket so that more experienced riders can recognise you and give you extra space. These are available from the ACU so you might as well obtain one with your licence application.
Progress to a Full Clubmans Licence
To upgrade to a Full Clubmans Licence you must complete 10 events at a minimum of 3 venues. Attendance at a recognised race school will count as one event. Make sure you complete your race record card as proof.
